Last night the Cavata crew hit up The Paradise Rock Club in Boston to support one of our favorite artists, Mighty Mystic, at his Wake Up The World album release party. This has been five years in the making so if you haven’t picked up a copy of your own…do it! This release includes classic Mystic tracks in addition to brand new songs the band only played snippets of during his set. Congratulations, Mystic!
The night began with the lovely and talented Ma’ayan Castel. I fully admit I have a giant crush on this woman and I’m pretty sure half of the Cavata crew does, too. She also played new music in her set that complemented her reggae tunes with pop/electro stylings. Ma’ayan has such a beautiful voice, uniquely her own but faintly reminiscent of singers like Amy Winehouse.
Next to the stage was Nomad-I; the band opened the set with a Boston-inspired “Jam Rock” riff and Nomad had the whole crowd chanting, “Welcome to BEANTOWN!” A mix of reggae and roots rock, Nomad absolutely killed his set and even threw out a few Cavata shirts to some lucky fans!
And finally, the man we were all waiting for, Mighty Mystic hit the stage! From Firetown to Slipped Away to Riding on the Clouds every song had the crowd amped up. I could barely hear and my throat was burning by the time I left…but that’s always a sign of a good show. Oh! And Steven Thunder, Mystic’s brother and guitar player, just had a little baby girl so congratulations to “Tunda!”
