Adriano Masciarelli & “617″

Say “Hello” to the newest member of the CAVATA family, Adriano Masciarelli. A Massachusetts native, actor Adriano Masciarelli has been a part of what we here in Boston like to call “Hollywood East” for quite some time now. Having worked on such films as “The Rude, The Mad and The Funny,” “The Comeback” and “NorEaster,” he is now taking his vision to the next level- in front of AND behind the camera. Having recently completed writing his first screenplay for his short film, “617,” Adriano is joining forces with CAVATA to tell the story of life on the streets of Southie. Starring local actors Bobby Kenney, Hannah Johnson, Brian McCarthy, Jay Dimare, Chris Lemieux, Lexie Sugar and with his acting debut, Adriano’s brother, Jason Sylva, “617″ is gearing up to be an amazing project with an honest perspective on South Boston life depicted by the people who have lived it firsthand. With CAVATA recently signed on as the official Wardrobe Consultant for “617,” you know you’ll be seeing CAVATA tees (some one-offs made exclusively for “617″) throughout the project!

Casting for “617″ is being handled by non other than South Shore Casting’s Jodi Purdy-Quinlan who has worked on such films as “Gone Baby Gone, ” “Pink Panther 2,” “The Town,” “Here Comes The Boom” and “The Game Plan,” among many others. Are you a seasoned actor looking to get involved in a local project? Ever been an extra on a movie set? ”617″ is still seeking actors for this project! A few days ago I received a package in the mail from Ryan Pimental, founder of Boston Cream. He had posted a trivia question on Facebook and even though I took 3 guesses and STILL couldn’t come up with the right answer he sent me a bunch of Boston Cream goodies! Sexy PACKAGE-ing (possibly NSFW)

I’m a sucker for creative packaging & sometimes I’ll even buy an item just because the packaging is THAT cool (that’s how they getcha!) I came across this gem yesterday and had to share it.

I think quirky things like this are the greatest. Its a really creative way of altering the product packaging to create some buzz. See? I’m talking about it right now because it looks like lady bits.

There are a bunch of cool indie tee brands that are experimenting with different kinds of packaging, too. First, there’s Monsieur Eureka by Samuel Boucher in Quebec.

He uses branded tubes to package his tees. The great thing about this is you can re-use the tube for things like holding writing utensils or for creating a really sweet bong (jusssst kidding, maybe)

Next, there’s a fresh new brand called Shrimp Sauce. I’m not quite sure why the brand is named this but I give them props for tying the packaging back to the brand’s positioning. Very neat idea to incorporate a fishing/shrimping net!
