YOU’VE GOT TO BE F*CKING KIDDING ME RIGHT? THAT MOVIE WAS A JOKE RIGHT? Like they’re actually gonna make the real movie next week, right? Liam NEESON is gonna come out and say, “Hahahahaha, fooled you guys. Come see the real movie starting next Friday.” I say this because this was easily…EASILY…one of the top 3 worst (WORST) movies ever made. AND IT SEEMED LIKE SUCH A MANLY FILM, TOO! F*CK, LIAM, WHY YOU HAVE TO GO BREAKIN’ MY HEART? To put it into perspective, it’s like if me and my friends were bored one day during the snow storm and we all got together, grabbed a video camera, acted out a script we wrote earlier that day then added stupid idiot wolves in later. COMPLETELY AND ABSOLUTELY the worst acting in a movie…ever. IT MAKES THE KIDS FROM “MISS MARCH” (also one of the worst movies ever made) LOOK LIKE THEY WERE IN SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION. It was like a comedy but that’s the thing, they weren’t trying too make it one. They were as serious as if they were making a movie about nazis or something. My buddy called me and goes “Wanna go see ‘The Grey’?” and I was like “YES I LOVE LIAM NEESON!” Boy, I wish I was taking a sh*t or shower or something when my phone rang because that’s probably the worst two hours I’ve ever spent in my life. I’d rather spend two hours sticking f*cking knives into my d*ckhole. It was crazy. They were saying the most corny shit, like it was on purpose, not once BUT THE WHOLE F*CKING MOVIE. I swear i only stayed the whole time because I was waiting for one, just one good acting scene. NOTHING! EVERYTHING that was said had absolutely nothing to do with THE PLOT!! It was as if they found the worst actors ever just to make Liam Neeson’s lines seem less stupid. IT HAS TO BE…HAS TO BE a bad joke. LIKE, THEY COULDN’T SERIOUSLY THROW AWAY MILLIONS ON THAT SH*T. WE’RE IN A F*CKING RECESSION PEOPLE! It’s like an old joke I heard once; A cocky Spanish guy, a fat black guy and a corny white guy follow a BIG DUMB IRISH GUY into the woods to make me completely hate all movies ever made. I HAVE LOST ALL RESPECT FOR LIAM NEESON. YA BRO, YOU HAD “TAKEN” AND THAT WAS PRETTY SICK BUT THAT DOESN’T GIVES YOU NO RIGHT TO WALK INTO ANOTHER MOVIE SET AND TAKE THE SAME VOICE, ACTING AND PERSONALITY INTO A MOVIE ABOUT FUCKING WOLVES. It had the exact same acting as like a Freddie or Jason movie but with no tits or teenagers f*cking in a log cabin. I’d call this movie a horror film, not a drama or action because the acting was HORRIBLE just like Slasher films are. The scary, make-you-jump scenes were in it like slashers , but when it ends you walk out thinking “”WHAT THE FUCK? WHY WOULD I EVER THINK THAT MOVIE WAS GONNA BE GOOD?” I SWEAR WHEN I LEFT I WANTED TO CLIMB BEHIND THE GLASS AND PUNCH THAT F*CKIN TICKET STUB LADY IN HER GLASSES FOR NOT WARNING ME ABOUT THE HORROR I WAS HEADED FOR. That’s like me seeing two rapists in a bathroom and having her about to walk in and me being like “Oh, I left the seat down for ya. “…B*tch.

J The S “The Last Days”

J The S, formerly “Jake The Snake”, has been a staple in the Boston hip-hop community over the past five plus years. From his early days smashing The Super Bowl Rap Battles, to great releases like his international debut “Strategy Of The Crown” in 2006, to his more recent endeavors on the New York City mixtape circuit (Two releases over the past two years featuring collaborations with artists like Jadakiss, Joell Ortiz, Nipsey Hussle, Kool G Rap, B.o.B, Saigon to name a few), J has never stopped repping the hometown team.

His latest work, “The Last Days”, explores varying themes of society and struggle but also takes time out to explore J’s introspective nature of his own life. It is hands down his most complete project yet and being as big a fan as I am, that is saying ALOT.

J The S is one of the more fearless emcees I have encountered during my meanderings in Hip-Hop. Release after release, J The S has consistently shown he is not the type of artist to sacrifice authenticity in favor of commercial success.

In seemingly scripted fashion, “The Last Days” release date was supposed to be January 18th of this week, however, feeling so strongly about the recent SOPA protests, J The S felt it more important to delay his release a day in recognition of the online communities concerns. This of course was coincidence, but appropriately fitting for an artist like J. From his early work in Boston Public Schools to countless fundraisers for anti-violence groups all the way to recent appearances (most of them NON music related) at Occupy Boston, J The S is constantly entrenched in fighting for change.

In an era where much of Hip-Hop’s authenticity is questioned, J The S remains an important artist, one who LIVES what he speaks and is never afraid to ask the tough questions. In my mind, this is the true soul of Hip-Hop, a voice for the unheard, unafraid and focused on making a difference.

“The Last Days” is an extremely quality work with a phenomenal sense of cohesion. There are also some great guest appearances including Styles P, Pill and Emilio Rojas just to name a few. So I just wanted to reintroduce myself; my name is Nat, aka Natural, aka Nasty Nat. Thanks to my good friends, Lori and Pete, I’ve been a regular in and around the Cavata Regime.

I’ve decided to join the website ranks and begin to post from time to time. I will be adding my picks for hip-hop music and hopefully even reviewing a couple of albums that have recently dropped.

To mark this glorious occasion, my first post in Cavata history I am adding a video below. The beat is off the critically acclaimed A$aP Rocky mixtape released just last year. The production on that album is some of the finest all around work released last year. My favorite song off the mixtape was “Trilla” so I released a quick freestyle just minutes ago. I hope you enjoy it and you will all be hearing from me soon enough!

Entrepreneurial Emersonians

I love featuring friends and former classmates who have also taken the entrepreneurial plunge. In this post, I’d like to introduce you to two extraordinary women: Kristin Lajeunesse and Lindsey Guest. I met these two lovely ladies during graduate school at Emerson College in 2007 and to say that their current endeavors are impressive would be, well, an understatement. They have supported CAVATA since I launched the brand in 2008 and am more than happy to promote their creative projects now. Congratulations, Kristin and Lindsey. I’m so proud of the both of you! IMC-4E, ladies.

Kristin is currently traveling across the United States on a year-long journey chronicling the country’s most delectable vegan restaurants in her blog Will Travel For Vegan Food. Kristin was able to fund her idea through Kickstarter.com, the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects, and raised over $12,000! In her words, “There are few things that I enjoy more than discovering new (to me) vegan restaurants. It’s true. I’m the embarrassing friend who giggles over having more than one vegan choice on a menu, bounces up and down just at the thought of vegan cinnamon buns and especially soft serve ice cream and takes multiple pictures of food.” When she comes back to Boston I’m making her take me to her favorite Beantown vegan spot!

Brad Pitt is AMAZING. Just when you write him off, he comes back with this awesome performance. Like, what can’t this guy do? He goes from playing a greek god, to Benjamin Button, to a baseball General Manager. Come on bro. How are you this talented? And WHY THE F*CK cant I get a morsel of it? This guy has more talent in one pubic hair on his left testicle than I do in my entire being. F*ck you Brad, seriously!! Anyway, this movie is a true story about the well known baseball general manager, Billy Beane, who had the balls to go against the grain. He went and built a baseball team based on numbers and formulas, rather than the old way of doing it, which focused on raw talent. Its really cool because it shows the inner workings of a baseball team, unlike all other sports movies that just show the coaches and players winning a crazy number of games. It fills you in on how hard the grind must be of a baseball GM and difficulty of running a professional team. Hollywood has never really shown this side of sports before and that’s why I really liked it. Jonah Hill is also is this movie and he’s pretty good. He definitely has his awkward moments that we have come to expect from him, which are always really funny, but he also plays the serious, nerdy part very well. This film also stars the great Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Manager (coach) for the Oakland Athletics. He doesnt get much face time in this movie but he has his moments when you realize, “ahhhh that’s why this guy is so highly paid and such a good actor.” Dude, I just realized that this movie is loaded with great actors. I also liked seeing how the meetings with the scouts and coaches went. They show you how the dealings between the GMs and agents work and even the visits to the homes of prospective players- it’s not like other sports movies where its predictable and you already know the outcome. Normally, when I watch movies I’m like, “this movies going pretty good but theres no way theyre gonna lose the championship or the nerdy kid isn’t gonna get the smoking hot girl who, realistically, wouldn’t even piss on him if he was on fire.” Unless you dont know who wins the World Series in 2002 then you wont be surprised and thats ok. This isn’t a f*ckin thriller, so you don’t have to be suprised. But you really will pull for Billy and Pete because of all the hard work they put into the team and everything that they do for the beneift of the squad. You’ll really want them to win and have all their hardwork and dreams come true but, then again, that’s not how life works all the time. Sometimes hardwork doesn’t always turn out the way you’ve planned. Sometimes the d*ckheads with money win. If you have the money, you’ll win most of the time. That’s true with most sports, ESPECIALLY Baseball. I dont even like baseball so for me to sit through 2 hours of non-stop baseball shit (that doesnt involve Henry Rosenbagger or that little f*ckin dweeb in Little Big League or Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez) it must be a good f*ckin movie. I think Baseball is sooooooooo BOR-RING. I mean dont get me wrong, I love the Sox and the fact that they’re from Boston. I mean I’ll go to a game to mack on honies and I’ll be the loudest one during my bandwaggoning when they’re in the playoffs but give me Tom Brady and a pigskin or Ray Allen and a 3 pointer any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I strongly reccomend this movie to anybody who truly enjoys good, well-acted and well-scrpited movies. I love true stories. Most of the time they get f*cked up, but not this one, they did it very well. That played a big part in my Smitty rating. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- Brad Pitt shows us yet again why he’s among the best actors ever and why Angelina takes him deep every night. You heard me muthaf*ckas, I SAID EVER! Just a really well acted movie with some really good baseball scenes for you action nerds. I say its definitely worth the money to rent. See this movie the first chance you get, YOU WONT BE DISSAPOINTED!
